Π-ictures 2: Έκθεση Comics και Εικονογράφησης -ΕΓΚΑΙΝΙΑ 8 / 12 (GR)

Μετά από τρία τέταρτα χρόνου, η έκθεση Π-ictures επιστρέφει, κι αυτή τη φορά ο υποφαινόμενος Δεν συμμετέχει, αλλά την διοργανώνει και επιμελείται. Κι αυτό σημαίνει πως είναι διπλά καταπληκτική, γιατί...εεε...γιατί έτσι!

Αλλά μην επαφίεστε στο τί λέω εγώ, ελάτε να κρίνετε από μόνοι σας το ποιοτικό της υπόβαθρο!

Στις 8 Δεκεμβρίου, το “Π” στο Γκάζι ανανεώνεται, αναβαθμίζεται, και παρουσιάζει την Έκθεση νέων –και παλαιότερων με την ίδια όμως φρεσκάδα- Εικονογράφων και Comic Creators, “Π-ictures 02”, η οποία τίνει να γίνει θεσμικό καλλιτεχνικό γεγονός.

Έτσι φέτος τη σκυτάλη παίρνουν οι Αυγή Κανάκη, Δημήτρης Κάσδαγλης, Ιόλη Κομνηνού, Ευγενία Κουμάκη, Ελεάννα Μαυροφρύδη, Μόνικα Ρεμπόφσκα, Άγγελος Φωκάς και Νίκος Χαντζής.

Οπότε ανακεφαλαιώνουμε:
Α) Έκθεση Εικονγράφησης.
Β) Στις 8 Δεκεμβρίου τα εγκαίνεια και μέχρι τις 12 Ιανουαρίου, από Τετάρτη έως Σάββατο 20:30-00:30 της επομένης.

Today we have a new series-thing that I like to try and see how it will go: Short stories (one page each) minimalistic 2-characters dialogue, in the sense of Samuel Beckett's "Waiting for Godot", but in a humorous sort of, way. It's going to be a build-up theme, so if you don't really "get" or laugh with the 1st episode (or the second, or the third, and so on :p) bare with me, and keep reading untill you do! Nothing serious artistically, things and silly little jokes that are stuck in my mind and can't fit them anywhere else.

Τελείωσε και φέτος το μοναδικό, πλέον, φεστιβάλ (convention) comics στην Ελλάδα, το Comicdom ή CCA (Comicdom Con Athens, συντομογραφία με βάση τα αμερικάνικα πρότυπα, που χαίρομαι που βλέπω να χρησιμοποιείται πλέον λίγο ευρύτερα, γιατί πάλεψα αρκετά γι αυτήν στο παρελθόν) 2011.

Ήμουν εκεί, ήσουν εκεί, περάσαμε καλά, κλπκλπ. Όλα μια χαρά. Ποιό είναι όμως το resume'; Το πρακτικό σκέλος του aftermath μιας τέτοιας εκδήλωσης; Όχι για τον κόσμο, για εμάς σε σχέση με τον κόσμο. Για τους δημιουργούς, τα μαγαζιά, τις εκδοτικές. Γιατί αυτοί είναι ο πυρήνας χάρη στον οποίο υπάρχουν αυτές οι εκδηλώσεις.

1- Ένα φεστιβάλ τον χρόνο Δε φέρνει την Άνοιξη. Χρειαζόμαστε τουλάχιστον 2. Έτσι όπως εδώ και αρκετά χρόνια έχουν τα πράγματα, που οι ελληνικές εκδόσεις περιορίζονται σε μεγάλο βαθμό σε τέτοια events για να βγάλουν νέες δουλειές, ένα, τουλάχιστον, ακόμη τέτοιο τρι-διήμερο είναι απαραίτητο.

2- Η ποιότητα της ελληνικής παραγωγής συνεχώς βελτιώνεται. Και από άποψη δημιουργικού, αλλά κι από τις ίδιες τις εκδόσεις. Ακόμη και τα πιο μικρά και "απλοϊκά" σε μορφή παρουσίασης comics όπως η ΑΡΑΧΩΒΑ από την 9η Διάσταση, είχαν φέτος τον αέρα του cool design-άτου και πολυτελούς project.

3- Το κοινό υπάρχει και ψωνίζει. Το εν δυνάμει κοινό γουστάρει, ενδιαφέρεται, και είναι έτοιμο να εισχωρήσει περισσότερο σε αυτή τη μορφή Τέχνης. Γιατί είναι μία Τέχνη που γίνεται εύκολα αποδεκτή από κάθε κατηγορία ανθρώπων. Πού είναι όμως όλο αυτό το κοινό τις υπόλοιπες ημέρες; Μήπως τελικά τα ελληνικά δίκτυα διανομής Τύπου έχουν πολύ μεγαλύτερο μερίδιο ευθύνης για την απογοητευτική κίνηση του comic στην Ελλάδα απ'ότι πιστεύαμε;

4- Φέτος είχαμε και για πρώτη φορά, διαγωνισμό cosplay στο convention. Ο οποίος θεωρείται επιτυχημένος, και μια επιτυχημένη κίνηση από τους διοργανωτές. Θα συμφωνήσω μέχρι ένα σημείο: θεωρώ αυτό το συμπέρασμα κάπως επιφανειακό. Πράγματι, ο χώρος της Ένωσης τίγκαρε το Σάββατο, και πριν και μετά το cosplay. Όμως η "συνάντηση των 2 κόσμων" (comic enthousiasts-cosplayers) δεν επετεύχθει. Δεν παρατήρησα και κανένα ιδιαίτερο ενδιαφέρον από το πλήθος των cosplay fans και related ατόμων για το υπόλοιπο κομμάτι. Δεν είδα να πήζουν τα μαγαζιά από κόσμο εκείνες τις πριν-και-μετά ώρες. Απεναντίας, η είσοδος και τα πεζοδρόμια τριγύρω από την Ένωση ήταν ασφυκτικά γεμάτα.

5- Οι γυναίκες διαβάζουν comics ανεξαρτήτως είδους στην Ελλάδα. Period. Όταν πέφτει το μάτι μου σε κοπέλες που είναι maximum 24 ετών, να κρατούν στα χέρια τους το Tales To Astonish 78 και να ελέγχουν αν όντως το spine έχει τόσα cracks ώστε να το χαρακτηρίζουν Fine/Fine+, τότε κάτι περίεργο συμβαίνει!

6- Το μεγάλο όνομα σίγουρα βοηθάει. Η αποτυχία του Comicdom φέτος να φέρει φέτος έναν δημιουργό Α-Class δε φάνηκε. Αυτό όμως μόνο επειδή εδώ και έναν χρόνο, από το περσινό CCA 2010, δεν είχε γίνει απολύτως τίποτα, εκδηλώσεις τέτοιου βεληνεκούς εννοώ. Οπότε θεωρούσα βέβαιη την τόση κίνηση και προσέλευση φέτος. Αλλά αυτό δε σχετίζεται με την απουσία ενός mainstream artist/writer/inker whatever.

Τουλάχιστον για φέτος, ήταν/ήμασταν τυχεροί.

7- Χρειάζονται special Editions comics που θα έχουν exclusive covers για τις μέρες του CCA. Αυτό δεν κατάφερα να το πετύχω να πραγματοποιηθεί όσο ήμουν μέλος των διοργανωτών μεν, παραμένει μία πολύ καλή, και ενδιαφέρουσα για το promotion του ίδιου του convention στο εξωτερικό, ιδέα.

Back with some news, and laughs (hopefully) for you guys!

Let's get to the point! Last month I did 2 (two) comic strips for the very talented Ray Dillon and his "educational" superhero team, the SHE'N, a featured tutorial in the Superhero section of the book Master Digital Color.

A few words about the SHE'N: In ancient Chinese mythology there is a long-forgotten. tale of four beings who ride within a storm and fall from the sky. All face death, are resurrected after four days and are granted powers. They walk among men to stop a great war and endless bloodshed. In modern day, these are four strangers from around the globe visiting Shanghai who manifest powers after a plane crash and are considered gods among men, or "She'n." One of whom, their leader, follows another meaning of "she'n" as a shapshifting dragon who creates mirages. China needs them to stop the political war that has begun, the plague of violence and decay on the streets, and new unforseen supernatural forces soon to be released to bring an end to the world.

XX- You Already Know the Answers... (GR)

Σκεφτόμουν να έγραφα κάτι για τα τελευταία γεγονότα, αλλά έχω στεγνώσει. Αναλύσεις επί αναλύσεων περί πολιτικής, κοινωνικής ευθύνης, διαδηλωτές που προσπαθούν κάποιοι να τους καταντήσουν έρμαια μιας αδηφάγας προπαγανδιστικής κύκλωσης του μεταμοντέρνου Σοσιαλισμού με τα γνωστά αποτελέσματα. Πόνος, δολοφονίες, κατακραυγή, κατακερματισμός του δημοσίου (κι όχι τελικά, ή τουλάχιστον ακόμα του ιδιωτικού) συμφέροντος, σταθερά συστατικά μιας 30ετούς οικονομικής γενοκτονίας.

Δεν ξέρεις πλέον πώς να αντιδράσεις. Δε γνωρίζεις την πλήρη αλήθεια για να αποφασίσεις με ποιόν θα στοιχιθείς. Όχι πως έχει και τόσο μεγάλη σημασία: οι αποφάσεις ήδη έχουν επηρεάσει την καθημερινότητά μας. Αυτός ο διαρκής φόβος για τα οικονομικά μας, την προσωπική μας ασφάλεια, τη μελλοντική εξασφάλιση είναι όχι απλά ορατός αλλά χειροπιαστός εδώ και μήνες. Και χρόνια. Απλά παλαιότερα υπήρχε αυτό το ελληνικό "έτσι είναι ο Έλληνας, τη βγάζει πάντα καθαρή με τις λαμογιές και κανένας δεν τον ελέγχει". Και μας καθησύχαζε.

Είναι απλά τραγικό, μέσα στο πένθος 3 αδικοχαμένων ανθρώπων, που πήγαν στη δουλειά-καρμανιόλα εξαιτίας του φόβου της απόλυσης, να συζητάμε για το κόστος/επιπτώσεις στον Τουρισμό.

Το "σύστημα" (ή σύστημα) τους δολοφόνησε 2 φορές, και τώρα τρέχουμε να σώσουμε αυτό το ίδιο το...σύστημα;

I love making lists. Lists about everything! To-Do lists, Top 5s, Top 10s, Best, Worst, Sexiest, anything that can be in an order, let me have it, I'm your man!

So, in order to keep that order (sic), I 'm gonna try and make/customize this blog's categories today!

(Usually the categories turn out something like that Monty Python sketch, you know what I mean, the Spanish Inquisition)

Hmm...ok. We have 3 major categories:

A/ Personal Projects

B/ Comic Related Stuff (Reviews, Market Analysis, Comics I find interesting, etc)

C/ Real Life things, that will be usually be posted in Greek. (I don't think Samaras is of any interest for the general public for example!)

The 3 poinrts above, have their own sub-categories of course. Each one will have a title. Obviously. So, the way I'm thinking it, the categories will look something like this:

A/ PERSONAL PROJECTS

1- Comics, collaborations, strips, whatever I currently work on, or have made in the past. These updates will start with the letters PP.

2- Sketches, strips, stuff in general that I'm doing for no particular reason. These updates will start (thier title) with the letters SP.

B/ COMIC RELATED STUFF

1- Reviews. Search for the letters RV.

2- Market Analysis, a shorter "Market Watch" version for the greeks that remember my column on Comicdom site, with the letters MW. The majority of the posts will be in Greek btw.

3- Cool stuff, comics I like to read, cool merchandise, etc. The fun posts, that will have the letters CS.

C/ SLICE OF LIFE (Interesting and ironic use of title for this category, since I strongly dislike almost every "slice-of-life" comic I ever read!)

1- TV reviews. (Yes, of course, "TV" will be on their titles smart ass!)

2- Things that happens in Greece, and I have a say about. Their titles will start with an XX.

Important notice: every time an update is written in greek, in the end of its title you will see this: (GR).

Who Is Mr.Bunny? (Non Fiction Version)

Today, I would like to introduce, for you who don't know him, Mr. Bunny.

Mr. Bunny is obviously, a bunny, one of my oldest characters. His "career" started way back in 1997, as a guest member in my unreleased comic "Zoo Zippo". After a few years, he got his own comic strip called "Forest Tales" in Comicdom.gr for 3 years, and had regular appearences in another strip called "De.Pe.De.The". His strip was renamed "the FOREST" for the last year.

Since Mr. Bunny was a controversial character, I always tried to give him a more realistic public image, creating his background based on real life events, as an artistic guru-erque figure.

Mr. Bunny is originally a musician, tht started his career as a member of the band OASIS, way before they even got their name.

But, Mr. Bunny is also a comic artist. He can't really draw anything, but he pretends to be one. He even has a Deviantart account:

Two years ago, he appeared in a series of strips as a mascot for Small Press Idol, where he made his way to the top, and ended up 4th, not winning anything of course.

He even got a few gigs for the Bluwater Productions site back at 2006.

Today Mr. Bunny's comic strip returned to the Small Press Association site's main page, where you can read every Monday his new adventures, his high-profiled tips for new creators, and his disturbingly emotional reactions to every vegetable that starts with the letters "carro".

I was about to write a post about me, for all of you out there who don't know me or my work, but I messed up my 2 blogs and I'm too bored to start anew...

Well, the strip u see is from a project of mine, named DINOS, a humor comic that is about ...dinosaurs. Not any kind of Dinos, the REAL stuff! And by that I mean the ugly, big monsters that lived million years ago, but not the way scientists wants us to believe: They had technology. They had internet, and coffee makers, and sattelites. The first humans on the other hand...well, they invented the wheel! Hurray!
